Drones and Tree planting Fielding
It was time for Colyton students to learn to code drones. Gaining problem-solving skills was the key emphasis of this lesson. Our youth took up the challenge with enthusiasm and zeal.
Part II of the day focused on navigating their drones and planting a range of native trees sponsored by PTC Trust as we prepared for Matariki. The area chosen was significant for the school as it experienced a drainage problem around its perimeters. Pittosporum tenuifolium (Kohuhu/Black Matipo) are excellent revegetation species for those conditions. They are very hardy, and tolerant of wind and drought and frost. Our youth were enthused and worked very hard to do their bit in enhancing the environment.
