PTC Trust organised a series of workshops in Term 1 of 2016 to engage students in the science behind river water quality.

The river and I are one conveys the connectivity PTC attempts to forge within this scientific endeavour as students initially researched and learnt of the aspirations and hopes of iwi for the environment. PTC successfully collaborated with Horizons Regional Council scientist Dr Brown, University of Auckland Professors Dr Beggs, Dr Holwell and researchers Anna and Jamie in organising for students to compare two sites. 

Students actively sampled, conducted water chemistry testing and analysed and collected biological indicators so that they gain confidence to become active managers and future scientists equipped to improve our environment and our communities both now and in the future.
