Hamilton Wharekura Robotics
What a blast of a day, as PTC Trust in collaboration with Dr Lim and his team from the University of Waikato, brought robotics to the Wharekura.
Youth were attentive, alert and ready to try their hand at something different. Robots are widely known to provide an exciting platform for a range of STEM concepts. The time spent engineering, analysing, manipulating and testing sped by quickly and productively and was full of fun!
Dr Lim sits as the Chair of NZRAS, which has provided a roadmap of the New Zealand Robotics, Automation and Sensing industry. The roadmap identified ‘more than 84 developers, 43 integrators, and 870 researchers, with over 350 estimated end users. It shows New Zealand currently employs 3200 people in the sector which generates $1 billion in annual revenue’.
It is a great opportunity for rangatahi to get involved and give it a go as the robotic industry advances in complexity and scope.
