Drones and Tree planting Hukarere
Our young girls were very excited to learn to code as PTC continues to provide opportunities for developing computational skills. The creativity shown by the girls went beyond expectation as they quickly applied the principles to build their own program.
Creating this awareness and sparking their imagination on the expansive possibilities and uses of coding is pivotal as we equip rangatahi for a techno-saturated future. No doubt the next spy thriller or action movie they watch containing drones would have them reflecting on the growing use of coding.
Planting of a range of natives such as sophora tetraptera took place around the school grounds. The Esk river runs alongside the school and is prone to flooding. Consequently, one of the greatest benefits of planting trees is their ability to reduce the amount of stormwater runoff and erosion which inevitably creates pollution in our waterways.
