Our youth got straight into learning to code their drone at our next workshop. They were ready and willing. No one left behind but each keen to have a go at navigating past obstacles, flying at different angles and elevation and using the camera to scope out plastic rubbish around the school. It was an enjoyable time as their faces lighted up when codes worked and drones followed command. Excellent work teams.

Drones are changing many areas of operation across New Zealand and the world. Unmanned aerial systems UAS) are being utilised for real estate photography, security surveillance, inspecting powerlines and in the filming industry.

Ministry of Transport is actively researching the safe use of drones in NZ - Te rangahau me te whakahaere i te whakamahinga o ngā matatopa i Aotearoa and providing regulation for responsible usage.
