Our Whakatane students had a go at kayaking and learning more about the conditions affecting marine Ecosystems in their local area. PTC Trust was able to collaborate with KG Kayaks in offering this experience.

Kenny used the opportunity to explore our environmental wildlife and areas of concern. These were not limited to:

• Runoff and siltation from the catchment area;

• Mangrove proliferation;

• Vehicles driving on the Harbour margins & surrounding dunes; and

• General plastic waste from human activity.

Arming the next generation with the understanding of ways they can protect our marine ecosystem is a step toward providing them with practical tools and insights into ways they can help become the solution to the many challenges facing our wildlife.
