Robotic workshop Edgecumbe

Rangatahi were super excited during this PTC robotic workshop with the Mechatronics team at the University of Waikato. The challenge spurred students on as they learnt how to manipulate and craft the device to follow commands.

As students’ curiosity grew throughout the workout, so to did the possibilities for innovation and creativity in how rangatahi designed and developed their robotic device.

Aspects of such innovation are clearly being seen in industries across the world. RNZ on 14/3/2025 reported, “ Are robots replacing humans behind the coffee machine?” The article reports that with “New Zealand's first robotic coffee machines crafting precision-made shots of espresso, cafes are stepping into a new era - where technology and tradition blend in every cup”. However, can efficient robots ever replace the human agent? As the article mentioned, only time will tell!
